SUMMARY:Teaching Whole Class Taiko Drumming - CPD Training
DESCRIPTION:Teaching whole class Taiko Drumming CPD\nThursday 29th June\, 4.00 – 5.30pm\nCoombeshead Academy\, Newton Abbot \nDevon & Torbay Music Education Hubs\, in partnership with Taiko South West\, are running a FREE twilight CPD session focussed on taiko drumming. Taiko is a performing art originating from Japan involving big drums and choreography. It’s very visual and a lot of fun\, if you’ve not seen it before please check out this video of Tano Taiko (Taiko South West’s main performing group). \nThis practical session is aimed at classroom teachers\, teaching assistants and other school staff (both specialist and non-specialist) involved in music education delivery. \nLucy Thomas\, instructor at Taiko South West\, will be running the session on behalf of the Hub and will cover: \n\nA brief overview of the history and background of taiko drumming\nSome warm up exercises that require no equipment\nSome fun introductory taiko drumming drills\nA simple taiko motif which all participants will be able to play together by the end of the session\n\nJoin us for this fun\, informative and inspiring CPD opportunity! This is a practical session with all instruments and resources provided. Taiko South West will be using pipe drums. Pipe drum sets can be loaned from Devon & Torbay Music Education Hubs should you wish to deliver taiko drumming in your school in the future. \nPlease book in advance here.
