A Taste of Taiko
This occasional taiko workshop does what its title suggests – gives you a taste of taiko. It’s suitable for complete (adult) beginners, and also for those with some experience. It is a great way to get used to our particular style of taiko playing, and teaching.
Advance booking is required. When emailing us please provide a phone number and always check your junk & spam folders as sometimes our replies end up there.
Our next class:
Saturday 31st May, 10.00am – 12.30pm. £20 per person. If you book and pay for one place by Friday 23rd May you can get a second place for just £10.
Weekly classes
Monday Morning Drum for Fun: 10am – 11am
Fee: £8.00.
Monday Morning Drum for Fundamentals: 11.15am – 12.15pm
Fee: £8.00
For both sessions on a Monday morning you must have regularly attended the sessions before. Please email [email protected] if you have not been for a while, and would like to attend, to check availability.
Monday Night Taiko: 7pm – 8pm
Fee £8.00
Our Monday Night Taiko classes are run as drop-in sessions so you can come as much or as little as you like with no need to book. They’re suitable for complete adult (18yrs +) beginners.Â

Adult Recreational courses
Intermediate Recreational Courses
We are also pleased to offer a rolling programme of courses for people who have played taiko for about a year or so, and who want to progress their level of playing. Participants would normally have taken at least one or two Taste of Taiko workshops or several Drop-In Classes, and consulted with us about the suitability of this course for them. Places must be booked in advance. To find out more about our recreational courses please email [email protected].Â
People who have taken several recreational courses may be in a position to progress to provisional membership of Tano Taiko, our adult performing group, subject to availability of places in the group.

Know Your Naname Workshop
Wednesday 21st May, 7.00 – 8.30pm, £12
An introductory workshop working on the basics & fundamentals of playing a drum at a ‘slanted’ angle known as naname. Limited places available so please book in advance by emailing [email protected]. Our preferred method of payment is via BACS so on confirming your booking we’ll provide you with our bank details. This workshop is not suitable for beginners.
Family Taiko Session
Thursday 29th May, 11.00am – 12.30pm
A taiko drumming session at the Taiko Centre specifically for families and a fun way to spend a morning during half term. A 1-hour taiko drumming workshop followed by snacks. Â This session is suitable for complete beginners, children must be aged 8 yrs +. Please book in advance, by Friday 23rd May, by emailing [email protected].

Any additional children – £3 per child.
Any additional adults – £6 per adult.
*Price includes 1 hour of taiko drumming then biscuits, fruit, plus either tea, coffee or squash.
Skills & Drills
Sunday 1st June, 10.00am – 1.00pm, £25Â
This 3-hour skills and drills workshop is suitable for anyone who’s played taiko before and would enjoy a morning doing a range of different drills, on different drums, as well as learning parts of repertoire not currently covered in our weekly sessions. Please book in advance by emailing [email protected]. Our preferred method of payment is via BACS so on confirming your booking we’ll provide you with our bank details. This workshop is not suitable for beginners.
Cancellation Policy
We reserve the right to cancel a workshop for any reason with no less than 7 days’ notice. In such circumstances, we will offer a full refund, or transfer to another workshop at a later date. In the event that you have to cancel your participation in a workshop, with regret we will be able to offer you a refund only if you are able to find a replacement who pays for their own place.
