CPD Taiko Drumming Session for School Staff

Devon & Torbay Music Education Hubs, in partnership with Taiko South West, are running a FREE twilight CPD session focussed on taiko drumming. Taiko is a performing art originating from Japan involving big drums and choreography. This practical session is aimed at classroom teachers, teaching assistants and other school staff (both specialist and non-specialist) involved in music education delivery.
Lucy Thomas, instructor at Taiko South West, will be running the session on behalf of the Hub and will cover:
- A brief overview of the history and background of taiko drumming
- Some warm up exercises that require no equipment
- Some fun introductory taiko drumming drills
- A simple taiko motif which all participants will be able to play together by the end of the session.
Join us for this fun, informative and inspiring CPD opportunity! This is a practical session with all instruments and resources provided. Taiko South West will be using pipe drums. Pipe drum sets can be rented per term from Devon & Torbay Music Education Hub should you wish to do taiko drumming in your school.
